The inter-institutional working group for transposition, implementation and reporting on Chapter 27

Under the Prime Minister, the Agency for the Management of Water Sources (AMBU) is the competent authority that works directly with line ministries on all EU-related aspects of integrated water management (transposition, implementation and reporting). This relates to negotiations between Albania and the EU in regard to Chapter 27 (Environment and Climate Change) of the acquis, currently being led by the Vice Minister of Tourism and Environment in accordance with Prime Ministerial Order (PMO) no. 94, of 20 May 2019 on the establishment, composition, and functioning of inter-institutional working groups for European Integration. Pursuant to the recent PMO on the Establishment of the inter-institutional working group for drafting the legal package in the field of water resources management, AMBU is leading the inter-institutional working group comprised of:

  • The Ministry of Tourism and Environment
  • The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,
  • The Ministry of Finance and Economy,
  • The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy,
  • The Ministry of Defence,
  • The Ministry of Health and Social Protection,
  • The Albanian Geological Survey and
  • The National Environmental Agency.

The group has started working and had its second meeting on 17 May 2021.
